It is a narrow web paper sheet cutting machine built around label roll sizes. The unwind is an auto unloading unit for rolls up to 600 mm diameter on a 3 inch air shaft, with tension controlled by a powder brake and an imported ultrasonic edge scanner web guide holding the web edge in line. An electronic feeding system with a servo motor pulls the web, and cutting is controlled by length feed or by a print mark scanner.

The cutting unit is driven by a mechanical eccentric movement with hardened top and bottom blades on a mechanical motor mechanism. A digital electronic controller handles cut set, sheet set and the total stroke count. Slitting is done inline by an attachment with a blower, and the cut sheets travel out on a conveyor. Cut sheets leave the machine on a conveyor unit, so the operator collects neat stacks instead of catching sheets at the blade.

The printed or plain roll is loaded on the air shaft of the auto unloading unwind and threaded through the web guide, the servo feed rollers, the slitting attachment and the cutting unit on to the conveyor. On the controller the operator enters either the sheet length or selects print mark mode and positions the scanner over the mark, then sets the cut set and sheet set counts.

When the machine runs, the powder brake keeps the web in tension, the ultrasonic web guide corrects the edge and the servo feeds one sheet length per cycle. The hardened blades cut on the eccentric stroke, the sheet moves out on the conveyor and the controller counts the stroke. In print mark mode the scanner re-checks every cut against the printed mark, so a small drift in the printed repeat does not build up along the roll. At the end of each sheet set the operator lifts the stack from the conveyor.
