Wide Web Hybrid Flexo Printing Machine – RK FMS Nice P 650 / 4 Colour + Die Cutting

A wide web flexo printing machine prints a wide web in one pass – on this RK model, 630 mm paper width with a 620 mm print width. "Hybrid" here refers to the combination of technologies on one press: flexo printing with both UV and hot air drying on every unit, film handling (corona treater and chiller drum), and inline converting (rotary die cutting, slitting and dual rewinding) – all under full servo control.

The published configuration is the RK FMS Nice P 650 with four colour printing units and one rotary die-cutting unit, on an all-servo base. It prints labels, flexible packaging webs and film with a print width of 620 mm and a print length of 450 mm.

All printing units, the die-cutting unit, the infeed and the outfeed are driven by individual servo motors. On a wide web, servo drive is what keeps registration steady across the full 620 mm.

GEW UV Dryers and Hot Air Dryers on All Units

Every printing unit has a UV dryer system made in the UK by GEW and a hot air dryer. UV inks cure instantly across the full width; water-based and solvent-based inks dry under hot air.

Automatic Block Position Registration

All printing units have automatic block position registration. Plates are brought into position electronically at the start of the job, which cuts setup waste – a larger saving on a wide web where every metre of waste is 630 mm wide.

Corona Treater for Film

Film surfaces need treatment for ink to bond. The inline corona treater prepares BOPP, PET and similar films immediately before printing.

Chiller Drum Unit

The chiller drum takes dryer heat out of the web, keeping film stable and registration accurate.

E+L Web Video Monitor

A web video monitor from E+L lets the operator watch the printed web at speed and catch print or registration faults before a roll is wasted.

Turn Bar Fixable on Any Printing Unit

The turn bar for back side printing can be fitted at any printing unit, so reverse printing can happen wherever the artwork calls for it.

Online Slitting and Up & Down Rewinding

The online slitting unit cuts the wide web into finished widths, and the up & down rewinding unit winds them onto two shafts. Each rewinding has an independent motor and drive synchronised with the main drive through an encoder for automatic tension control.

The roll (up to 800 mm diameter) is loaded on the unwinding unit with the pneumatic loading system. The ultrasonic web guide keeps the 630 mm web centred and the load-cell tension controller holds it at a steady tension. Film webs pass through the corona treater so the surface accepts ink.

The web then runs through the four servo-driven printing units. At each one a ceramic anilox roller meters ink onto the plate, the plate prints, and the web is cured under the GEW UV dryer or dried by hot air, then cooled over the chiller drum. The turn bar flips the web for back side printing wherever it is fitted. The E+L web video monitor shows the operator the printed result at speed.

After printing, the web passes through the rotary die-cutting unit where required, then through the online slitting unit, which divides it into finished widths. The slit webs wind on the up & down rewinding unit, each shaft with its own motor and drive synchronised to the main drive. The operator runs the whole line from the touch screen.

With the corona treater and chiller drum, the wide web machine runs BOPP, PET, PE and shrink films as well as self-adhesive stock and paper. Anilox rollers are supplied to your requirement, so share your actual materials and artwork with RK before the specification is fixed.
