Vertical-Tower Machine

Vertical Tower Printing Machine Manufacturer in India

Most label printers do not have a 40 foot hall to spare for a press. A vertical tower printing machine stacks its printing units one above the other instead of laying them out in a line, so a multi colour flexo press with inline die cutting fits in a small room. For a growing label business, or a manufacturer bringing label printing in-house, that footprint is often the deciding factor.

RK Label Printing Machinery Pvt. Ltd. is a vertical tower printing machine manufacturer in India, with its head office in GIDC Vatva, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, three manufacturing units and customers in 23+ countries. RK has built label printing machinery since 1995.

All machines on this page are vertical tower flexo presses. This page covers the RK vertical tower range: the Tower Machine (RK F 320 series), the Paper Cup Machine, the Micro Flexo and the Fireworks Stickers Printing, Embossing and Full Cut Machine.

01 — What Is It

What Is a Vertical Tower Printing Machine?

A vertical tower, or tower type, label printing machine is a flexo press whose printing units are arranged in a tower. The label web runs up through the tower, printing one colour at each unit and drying between units, then comes back down into the die cutting and rewinding section.

The printing itself works like any flexo press: an anilox roller meters ink onto a flexible plate, the plate prints the web, and a dryer sets the ink. The difference is the layout. Because the units are stacked, the press is short in length and the web path between colours is short, which keeps registration stable.

For an ordinary buyer, a tower machine is a flexo label printing machine that prints, laminates, die cuts and rewinds finished label rolls in one pass, in about 12 feet of floor length.

Imported Web Guide and Tension Control

Ultrasonic electronic web guides and auto electronic tension controllers with load cell feedback are published on the tower and paper cup machines.

Individual Motorised Anilox and 360 Degree Regulation

Each printing unit has its own motorised anilox roll system, adopts 360 degree regulation and has a dial gauge for registration.

Wide and Narrow Web Options

From the 220 mm Micro Flexo to the 1000 mm paper cup printing machine, the range covers narrow and wide web work.

04 — How It Works

How Does a Vertical Tower Printing Machine Work?

1

The label roll, up to 600 mm diameter on the tower machine, is loaded on the unwinding unit. The ultrasonic web guide keeps it centred and the load cell tension controller holds it at a steady tension as it enters the tower.

2

The web climbs through the printing units one after another. At each unit a ceramic anilox roller meters ink onto the plate, the plate prints the image, and the web passes through that unit's IR hot air dryer, or the UV dryer where fitted, before the next colour. The turn bar flips the web for back side printing when the job needs it, and the lamination unit applies laminate after printing.

3

The web then comes down into the online rotary die cutting unit, where the label shape is cut and the waste matrix is stripped and rewound. The finished roll winds on the rewinding unit under its own tension control. The operator sets the speed on the variable speed drive and the registration with the dial gauges at each unit.
