FMS-2S Series – Dual Servo Flexo Printing Machine

The FMS-2S Series is a rotary flexographic press in which each printing unit is driven by two independent servo motors instead of a single drive or a mechanical gear train. The split drive lets the control system hold the plate in register while the anilox meters ink at its own speed, and it makes each unit easier to set up and adjust from the station's own 7" HMI.

RK designed the 2S with a shortened web path: the distance the web travels between units is kept short, and each unit has its own chiller roller, so the substrate stays stable from one colour to the next. The result is a press that gives maximum overall efficiency with minimal waste and simple operation – on both paper and filmic materials.

Two Servo Motors in Each Printing Unit

Each unit has two independent drives. Registration is controlled electronically at the unit, and the operator adjusts one station without disturbing the others.

Auto Pre-Register for Quick Job Changeover

Before the job starts, the press brings every unit into position automatically. The first metres of the roll are already close to register, which cuts setup time and setup waste on every job change.

Chiller Drum on All Printing Units

Every printing unit has its own chiller roller. Heat from drying is taken out of the web before the next colour, so paper and film substrates stay dimensionally stable and registration holds.

Shortened Web Path

Less web between units means less material in the machine at setup, faster settling after a stop, and lower waste over the day.

10" Main HMI and 7" HMI on All Stations

The operator has a 10" main touch screen for the line and a 7" screen at each printing station – user friendly and easy to operate.

200+ Stored Recipes and Low-Ink Startup

Repeat jobs are recalled with all their settings. Low-ink startup reduces ink and substrate consumption when the press comes up to speed.

Stable Aluminium Printing Cylinder

Lightweight aluminium cylinders are easy to handle at job change and hold their precision in the press, which supports high printing quality.

The roll is loaded on the unwinding unit (up to 900 mm diameter) and the web is guided and tensioned into the first printing unit. At each unit, one servo drives the plate cylinder and holds the image in register while the second servo handles the anilox and inking. The web is printed, dried, and passed over the unit's chiller roller before it enters the next station a short distance away.

The operator sets and trims each unit from its 7" HMI and watches the line from the 10" main screen. After the last colour the web passes through the die-cutting stations – one to three depending on the configuration – and winds on the rewinding unit, again up to 900 mm diameter. For a repeat job, the recipe is recalled and auto pre-register positions the units before printing starts.

The published substrate range is 12 micron to 200 GSM, covering self-adhesive label stock, paper and filmic materials such as BOPP and PET. • 2S or 3S? If you run mostly labels on paper and standard films, the 2S gives quick changeover and stable registration at a lower investment. If you run shrink film, foil and lami tube on the same press, look at the 3S.
