FMS-3S Series – Triple Servo Flexo Printing Machine

The FMS-3S Series is a rotary flexographic press in which every printing unit has three independent servo motors. Where a standard servo press drives each unit with one motor, the 3S separates the plate cylinder, anilox roller and impression drive. The control system can then adjust each of these individually, without gears, which is what gives the press its registration accuracy and its ability to switch between substrates.

The machine is designed for printing on self-adhesive labels, unsupported paper, BOPP, PE, PET shrink film, blister foil, lami tube and similar materials, across a substrate range of 12 micron to 200 GSM. It is available with 1 to 3 die-cutting stations, and the stable aluminium printing cylinder keeps the press light to operate and accurate in print.

Three Servo Motors in Each Printing Unit

Plate, anilox and impression each have their own drive. Registration is corrected at the individual unit, and re-pass is available on all stations. This is the highest level of drive control in the RK flexo range.

Auto Pre-Register and Auto Re-Register

Auto pre-register brings every unit into position before the job starts, so the first metres of the roll are already close to register. Auto re-register keeps it there during the run and after any stop. Together they mean quick job changeover with minimal waste.

Chilled Impression Drum With Short Paper Path

The web is printed against a chilled impression drum. The short path between units and the temperature control keep film substrates stable, which is what makes the press usable on PET shrink film and thin BOPP as well as paper.

10" Main HMI and 7" HMI on Every Station

The operator has a 10" main touch screen for the line and a 7" screen at each printing station. Settings are made where the operator stands, not by walking back to a central panel.

200+ Stored Recipes and Low-Ink Startup

Repeat jobs are recalled from memory with their settings. Low-ink startup reduces ink and substrate consumption when the press comes up to speed.

Multi-Substrate Capability

Self-adhesive labels, unsupported paper, BOPP, PE, PET shrink film, blister foil and lami tube all run on the same press, within the 12 micron to 200 GSM range.

Stable Aluminium Printing Cylinder

Lightweight aluminium cylinders are easy for the operator to handle at job change and hold their accuracy in the press.

The roll is loaded on the unwinding unit (up to 900 mm diameter) and the web is guided and tensioned into the first printing unit. At each unit, the anilox servo meters ink onto the plate, the plate servo keeps the image in register, and the impression servo holds the web against the chilled impression drum. Because the three drives are independent, the operator can trim any one of them from the 7" station HMI without affecting the others.

After each colour the web is dried and, because the path between units is short and the drum is chilled, the substrate stays stable into the next unit. Auto re-register monitors and corrects registration throughout the run. After the last colour the web passes through the die-cutting stations (one to three, depending on the configuration) and winds on the rewinding unit, again up to 900 mm diameter. A repeat job is recalled from the stored recipes and the press pre-registers itself before the first metre is printed.

The published substrate range is 12 micron to 200 GSM, covering self-adhesive label stock, unsupported paper, BOPP, PE, PET shrink film, blister foil and lami tube.
