RK MS-320 Micro Label Slitting Machine

The RK MS-320 is a roll to roll micro label slitter for webs up to 320 mm wide. It unwinds a printed, die-cut or plain roll, slits it into lanes using shear blades running against a grooved base roll, and winds each lane on one of two rewinding shafts arranged one above the other. Alternate lanes go to the upper and lower shafts so neighbouring rolls wind cleanly without rubbing.

The machine is driven by a single 1 HP AC variable speed motor on a Schneider VFD, with unwinding tension controlled by a mechanical brake and rewinding tension by a mechanical clutch. A digital meter counter unit counts labels and metres and stops the machine automatically at the set target. Core size – 1", 1.5" or 3" – is changed with a collator on the rewinding shafts.

Compact 12" Roll to Roll Slitter

With a footprint of about 5 ft by 4 ft and a 320 mm working width, the MS-320 fits where a full-size slitter rewinder will not, while still handling standard 320 mm label rolls.

Shear Blade Slitting With Grooved Base Roll

Normal shear blades cut against a grooved base roll, giving a clean, straight edge on label stock and paper without crushing the material.

Up and Down Rewinding

Two rewinding shafts, one above the other, take alternate lanes so finished rolls do not interfere with each other during winding.

An imported ultrasonic web guide on the unwinding side keeps the web tracking straight into the blades.

Digital Counter With Auto Stop

A digital meter counter unit counts both labels and metres and stops the machine at the set value, so every roll leaves with the same quantity.

Rewinding shafts change between core sizes using a collator, so the machine covers the common label core standards.

1 HP Single Phase Power

Power consumption is 1 HP single phase, so the machine runs from a normal supply without a three-phase connection.

Mechanical Brake and Clutch Tension

Unwinding tension is held by a mechanical brake and rewinding tension by a mechanical clutch – simple, reliable and easy for any operator to adjust.

The roll, up to Ø600 mm, is mounted on the 3" manual shaft of the unwinding unit and the mechanical brake is set for back-tension. The ultrasonic web guide corrects any sideways drift as the web moves toward the slitting station. The operator positions the shear blades at the lane widths required over the grooved base roll, fits cores of the chosen size to the upper and lower rewinding shafts, and enters the roll length or label count on the digital counter.

When the machine starts, the 1 HP motor on its VFD drives the web through the blades at the set speed, up to 100 m/min. Each lane is led alternately to the upper or lower rewinding shaft, and the mechanical clutch keeps the rolls winding at even tension. When the counter reaches the target, the machine stops automatically; the operator removes the finished rolls, fits new cores and restarts.

The MS-320 is intended for self-adhesive label stock on a release liner – chromo and thermal papers and thermal-transfer papers, as well as plain paper webs up to 320 mm wide.
