RK TR-320 Label Slitting Machine With Turret Rewinding

The RK TR-320 is a roll to roll slitting rewinding machine for self-adhesive labels. A wide printed or die-cut roll is unwound, slit into lanes by rotary or shear blades, and each lane is rewound onto a core on the turret rewinding unit. Both the unwinding unit and the turret rewinding unit use air shafts. When the PLC counts the set number of labels or metres, a stepper motor indexes the turret with a timing setting, the fresh shafts take over the web, and the operator unloads the completed rolls – up to Ø250 mm – from the other set.

The machine is built around the label converter's daily needs: a splicing table with paper gripper so the next roll is joined without re-threading, a Panasonic label counting sensor for exact counts, forward and reverse winding by switch, and core size selection on the touch screen so changing from 1" to 3" cores is a setting rather than a rebuild.

Automatic Turret Index by Stepper Motor

Once the label or meter counter reaches the target, the turret rotates automatically, with a timing setting to control the changeover. A pedal switch is also provided for turret index and machine start/stop, leaving the operator's hands free.

Both Rotary and Shear Blade Slitting

Rotary blades and normal shear blades are both fitted, so the operator can choose the cutting method that gives the cleanest edge on the material in hand. An air blower system collects the waste trim.

Splicing Table With Paper Gripper

When a roll runs out, the next roll is joined on the splicing table while the gripper holds the web, so the machine does not have to be re-threaded from the unwind.

Rewinding air shafts are supplied in all three sizes, and the core size is selected on the HMI, which makes core changes quick.

An imported ultrasonic web guide on the unwinding side keeps the web tracking straight into the slitting knives.

Panasonic Label Counting Sensor

The label counting sensor works with the PLC's meter and label counter so every roll leaves with the same count, and auto stop or turret index follows automatically.

Schneider PLC and 7" Touch HMI

The machine is controlled by an electronic PLC system with a full touch 7" HMI, both Schneider. Counts, core size, direction and speed are set on one screen.

Independent VFD Motors

A 1 HP nip roll/slitting motor and a 1 HP rewinding motor, each single phase with its own Schneider VFD, keep web tension controlled from unwind to rewind, with a mechanical brake on the unwind and a mechanical clutch on the rewind.

The roll, up to Ø600 mm, is loaded on the 3" air shaft of the unwinding unit. The mechanical brake supplies back-tension and the ultrasonic web guide corrects any sideways movement before the web reaches the nip roll. The operator sets the slitting positions using rotary or shear blades according to the material, enters the label count or metre length on the 7" HMI, selects the core size and winding direction, and starts the machine. The Panasonic sensor counts labels as the lanes pass.

Each slit lane winds onto the turret rewinder on the selected air shafts, with the mechanical clutch keeping roll tension even up to Ø250 mm. When the counter reaches the target, the PLC indexes the turret by stepper motor: the fresh set of shafts takes the web and winding continues, while the operator removes the finished rolls from the other side and fits new cores. When the unwind roll runs out, the next roll is joined on the splicing table with the gripper holding the web, and the job continues without re-threading.
