Tape Cutting Machine – Fully Servo Auto Slicing
01 — Overview
Tape Cutting Machine Manufacturer in India
Adhesive tape is made wide and sold narrow. A BOPP packing tape, cloth tape, PVC electrical tape or foam tape comes off the coating line as a log roll – a wide roll of tape on a long core – and has to be sliced into the 12, 24, 48 or 72 mm rolls that end up on the shelf. Doing that by hand is slow and the cut edges are rarely square. A tape cutting machine, also called a log slicer or tape roll cutting machine, slices the log into finished rolls of the set width, one after another, with the same clean edge on every cut.
The RK tape cutting machine is a fully servo controlled digital auto slicing machine. The log roll is loaded on a 75 mm machine shaft up to 1500 mm long, the required slice width is set on the digital control, and a pneumatically operated slicing blade cuts the log into rolls automatically. A slice cutting attachment is supplied to the customer's required size, and a 3 HP single phase motor with digital timer auto control drives the machine. RK Label Printing Machinery Pvt. Ltd. designs and builds it in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
This page explains what the machine does, what it includes, how it runs and how to choose the right configuration for your tape sizes.

03 — What Is It
What Is the Tape Cutting Machine?
It is a log roll slicing machine for adhesive tapes. A log roll – tape already wound to its finished diameter on a full-length core – is mounted on the machine shaft. The machine rotates the log and advances a circular or slicing blade into it at the set width, cutting through tape and core together to produce one finished roll. The servo drive then indexes the log by the next width and the blade cuts again, repeating until the log is used up.
Because the width is set digitally and the indexing is servo driven, every roll from the log has the same width, and the machine can be reset for a different width in moments. Pneumatic operation of the slicing cut gives a firm, even pass through the tape and core, which is what keeps the cut face flat and free of ragged edges.
04 — Key Features
Key Features of the RK Tape Cutting Machine
Fully Servo Control Digital Auto Slicing
Slice width and indexing are set on the digital control and executed by the servo drive, so roll widths are accurate and repeatable without the operator measuring each cut.
Pneumatically Operated Slice Cutting
The slicing cut is pneumatically operated, giving a steady, even pass through the log for a clean cut face on every roll.
Slice Cutting Attachment to Your Size
RK fits the slice cutting attachment for the tape width you sell, so the machine is set up for the tape widths and core sizes you actually produce.
75 mm Machine Shaft, 1500 mm Long
The log roll mounts on a 75 mm machine shaft with a shaft size of 1500 mm, accommodating full-length tape logs on standard cores.
3 HP Single Phase Motor With Digital Timer Auto Control
A 3 HP single phase motor drives the machine, controlled with a digital timer auto control, so the machine runs on a standard single phase supply and cycles automatically.
One Machine for Many Tape Types
The same machine slices BOPP packing tape, cloth tape, PVC electrical tape, gum tape, masking and foam tape logs, changing only the width setting and, where needed, the attachment.
05 — How It Works
How Does the Tape Cutting Machine Work?
The operator loads the tape log onto the 75 mm shaft and locks it, then enters the required roll width and the number of rolls on the digital control. The digital timer auto control sets the cycle. When the cycle starts, the motor rotates the log and the pneumatic system brings the slicing blade into the tape. The blade passes through the tape and the core in one steady movement and the first finished roll separates from the log.
The servo drive then indexes the log by exactly one roll width and the blade cuts again. This repeats automatically along the full 1500 mm shaft until the log is finished or the set count is reached, and the operator unloads the finished rolls. Changing to a different width is a matter of entering the new value on the control; the attachment supplied for your sizes handles the range you specified at order.
06 — Applications
Applications of the Tape Cutting Machine
- BOPP packing tape – slicing clear and brown packing tape logs into 24, 48, 72 mm and other retail widths.
- Cello tape and stationery tape – small-width rolls for office and household use.
- PVC electrical tape – slicing insulation tape logs to standard electrical widths.
- Cloth and duct tape – heavier cloth-backed tapes cut to width.
- Gum tape and masking tape – paper-backed tapes for packaging and painting.
- Foam and double-sided tape – adhesive foam and mounting tape logs sliced to narrow rolls.
07 — Materials
What Materials Can It Handle?
The machine slices adhesive tape logs wound on cores: BOPP film tape, PVC tape, cloth and duct tape, paper gum and masking tape, foam and double-sided tape and similar products, on logs that fit a 75 mm machine shaft within a 1500 mm shaft length. The slice cutting attachment is made to the sizes you require, so tell RK the tape types, log diameters, core sizes and finished widths you run.
09 — Why RK
Why Choose RK Label Machines?
RK Label Printing Machinery Pvt. Ltd. has built label printing and converting machinery in Ahmedabad, Gujarat since 1995, operates three manufacturing units and supplies customers in 23+ countries. Roll handling, servo indexing and clean cutting are the everyday work of RK's slitting and die cutting machines, and the tape cutting machine is built on that experience. The slice cutting attachment is made to each customer's sizes rather than sold as a fixed model, and RK's slitting and rewinding machines cover the rest of a tape converter's needs from one supplier.
10 — Selection Guide
How to Select the Right Configuration
- Tape types: list the tapes you slice – BOPP, PVC, cloth, paper, foam – as the blade and attachment suit them.
- Log size: confirm your log diameter, core inner diameter and log length against the 75 mm shaft and 1500 mm shaft length.
- Finished widths: give the full list of roll widths you produce so the slice cutting attachment covers them.
- Output: tell RK how many logs you slice per shift so the cycle setting matches your production.
- Power: the machine runs a 3 HP single phase motor; confirm your supply.
11 — Price
Tape Cutting Machine Price in India
The price of the tape cutting machine depends on the slice cutting attachment made to your sizes, the tape types and any options. Prices are quoted ex-works Ahmedabad with GST at 18% applicable; engineer transport and stay for installation and training at your site are borne by the customer. Share your tape types, log sizes, finished widths and output with RK and the engineering team will recommend a configuration and quote against it.
