RK TS-500 POS Roll Slitting Machine

It is a paper slitting and rewinding machine designed around thermal paper up to 100 GSM. The unwinding unit carries the jumbo reel on a 3" air shaft with drum type mechanical brake tension control, and an air pneumatic loading system lifts the reel into place so no one has to manhandle a 1000 mm reel.

The slitting section is a rotary blade cutting system with top and bottom cutters – ten sets supplied – with an air blower system for collecting the edge trim. An automatic ink marking system with ink rubber roll lays the end-of-roll stripe on the paper. The rewinding unit takes rolls up to 200 mm diameter on manual shafts for 13 mm, 19 mm and 25.4 mm cores, three of each. A 2 HP three phase AC motor with a Schneider VFD drives the machine, a Schneider PLC controls it, and a meter counter with auto stop control fixes the roll length. Power consumption is 3.5 HP three phase.

Pneumatic Loading for 1000 mm Jumbo Reels

The air pneumatic loading system lifts jumbo reels up to 1000 mm diameter onto the 3" air shaft. Reel changes are faster and safer, and the reel edges are not damaged by manual handling.

Drum Type Brake Tension Control

Unwind tension is controlled by a drum type mechanical brake, holding the web steady as the reel diameter falls from 1000 mm to the core – important for tight, even POS rolls.

Ten Sets of Top and Bottom Rotary Blades

Rotary top and bottom cutters shear the thermal paper cleanly without dust or ragged edges. Ten sets are supplied.

Automatic Ink Marking System

An ink rubber roll marks the paper automatically, producing the coloured end-of-roll warning stripe that receipt printers show when a roll is running out.

Air Blower Trim Collection

Edge trim is carried away by an air blower system, keeping the slitting area clean and the operator free to tend the rewind.

Three POS Core Sizes

Manual rewinding shafts for 13 mm, 19 mm and 25.4 mm cores – three of each – cover standard POS, billing and ATM roll cores, up to 200 mm finished diameter.

Schneider PLC, VFD and Auto Stop Counter

A Schneider PLC controls the machine, the 2 HP three phase motor runs on a Schneider VFD, and the meter counter with auto stop delivers rolls of identical length, set after set.

165 m/min Mechanical Speed

The machine runs up to 165 m/min, matched to the throughput a thermal roll converter needs to keep up with retail demand.

The pneumatic loading system lifts the jumbo thermal reel onto the 3" air shaft of the unwinding unit, and the drum type brake sets the tension. The web runs through the machine to the ink marking roll, which applies the end-of-roll stripe at the set position, and then into the rotary blade cutting system, where the top and bottom cutters slit it into the required POS roll widths. The air blower carries the edge trim away.

The slit strips are wound onto cores on the manual rewinding shafts – 13 mm, 19 mm or 25.4 mm as the customer requires – and grow to a maximum of 200 mm diameter. The operator sets the roll length on the meter counter; when it is reached, the Schneider PLC stops the machine, the finished rolls are removed, new cores are loaded and the next set is started. Two sets of cutting widths are supplied so the machine can be changed between two roll widths quickly.
