Auto Rewinder Unit – Sensor Controlled Label Rewinder for Any Machine

The RK Auto Rewinder is a standalone label rewinder machine. It has its own motor and its own control; it does not need any electrical connection to the machine it serves. A sensor watches the loop of web between the upstream machine and the rewinder. When the loop grows, the rewinder speeds up; when the loop tightens, it slows down. The result is a firmly wound roll with even tension, produced without an operator watching it.

Because it is self-contained and runs on ordinary single-phase power, the unit can stand next to a desktop label printer, a batch coding machine, an inspection table or any other machine that pays out a web. Move it to another machine and it works there just the same.

Sensor Controlled Winding

A sensor monitors the web between the upstream machine and the rewinder, and the rewinder adjusts itself to match. The operator does not set a speed for each job; the unit follows the machine it is attached to.

Variable Speed Control Motor

The motor speed varies continuously under sensor control, so the rewinder keeps pace with slow and fast machines alike and winds without jerking the web.

230 V AC Single-Phase Power

Independent Operation

With its own motor and control, the rewinder does not rely on the upstream machine's electronics. There is nothing to interface or configure between the two.

Even, Firm Rolls Without Operator Attention

Constant sensor control produces rolls with consistent tension from core to outside, ready to go on a labelling machine or to a customer.

The rewinder is placed at the delivery side of the upstream machine and a core is fitted on its shaft. The web coming out of the machine is passed through the sensing area and fixed to the core. The operator switches the rewinder on and starts the upstream machine.

As the machine pays out web, a loop forms in front of the rewinder. The sensor detects the loop and the variable speed motor winds until the loop shortens, then eases off. This cycle repeats continuously, so the winding speed always equals the output speed of the machine, whether it is running steadily, stopping and starting, or changing pace. When the roll is complete, the operator cuts the web, removes the roll and fits a new core.
