RK-PR Printer Rewinder – Auto Label Rewinder for Barcode Printers
01 — Overview
Printer Rewinder Manufacturer in India
A barcode printer does its job well until the printed labels start piling up on the floor. Long runs of barcode, batch or shipping labels come out of the printer as a loose ribbon that curls, tangles and picks up dust. Someone has to gather it, roll it by hand and hope the roll is tight enough to load on an applicator or a dispenser later.
The RK-PR Printer Rewinder solves that. It sits at the output of the barcode printer and rewinds the printed label web onto a core as it is printed. A sensor watches the loop of labels between the printer and the rewinder and switches the AC gear motor on and off so the rewinder never pulls against the printer and never lets the web sag. It runs from a normal 230 V single phase socket. RK Label Printing Machinery Pvt. Ltd. manufactures it in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
If you print variable data labels in-house and need them back on a neat roll, this page explains what the RK-PR does, how it works alongside your printer, and how to choose it.

03 — What Is It
What Is the RK-PR Printer Rewinder?
A printer rewinder is a small reel to reel label rewinder built for the output of desktop and industrial barcode printers. Unlike a production rewinder on a slitting machine, it does not drive the web at a fixed speed. Instead it follows the printer: when the printer produces labels, the rewinder takes them up; when the printer pauses, the rewinder stops.
The RK-PR is an auto rewinder unit for barcode printers with sensor control and an AC gear motor. The result is a tightly wound roll of printed labels that can go straight onto a label dispenser, an applicator or into stock, with no manual rolling and no wasted labels.
04 — Key Features
Key Features of the RK-PR Printer Rewinder
Built for Barcode Printer Output
The unit is designed to sit at the exit of a barcode printer and take up printed labels as they emerge. Roll, core and web path are matched to the way barcode label rolls are made and used.
Sensor-Controlled Start and Stop
A sensor monitors the web between printer and rewinder. When labels build up, the motor runs and takes them in; when the loop is tight, the motor stops. The printer is never dragged and the labels are never stretched.
AC Gear Motor Drive
An AC gear motor gives steady torque at the low speeds a printer produces, so the roll is wound evenly from the core to the full diameter without slipping.
230 V Single Phase Supply
The rewinder plugs into a standard 230 V AC single phase socket, the same supply as the printer itself. No three phase connection or special wiring is needed.
Automatic Operation
Once the start of the label web is taped to the core, the unit runs unattended. The operator can leave a long print job and come back to a finished roll.
Compact Bench Unit
The RK-PR is sized to sit on the same bench or trolley as the printer, in a packing room, a dispatch office or a print shop.
05 — How It Works
How Does the RK-PR Automatic Label Rewinder Work?
The printer rewinder is placed a short distance from the label exit of the barcode printer. The operator fits an empty core on the rewind spindle, tapes the start of the printed label web to it and switches the unit on. As the printer feeds out labels, the web forms a loop between the two machines. The sensor watches this loop.
When enough labels have come out for the loop to reach the sensor, the AC gear motor starts and winds the web onto the core until the loop lifts clear again, then stops. This start-stop cycle repeats for the whole print run. The web is always taken up under light, even tension, so the finished roll is tight and straight and the printer never feels a pull on its label path. At the end of the job the operator cuts the web and lifts off a ready-to-use roll of printed labels.
06 — Applications
Applications of the Printer Rewinder
- Barcode and batch label printing – rewinding variable data labels printed in-house.
- Pharma and food packing – MRP, batch and expiry labels printed on demand and rewound for the line.
- Warehousing and logistics – shipping and pallet labels printed in bulk.
- Retail and garment tags – price and size labels printed on a thermal printer and rolled for the store.
- Print shops – finishing short-run digital label jobs on a barcode printer into supply rolls.
- Feeding label dispensers and applicators – producing neat rolls that load directly on the next machine.
07 — Materials
What Materials Can It Handle?
The RK-PR rewinds whatever the barcode printer prints: self-adhesive thermal and thermal transfer labels, paper and film labels on a liner, and tag stock, in the widths those printers produce. Because the sensor and gear motor follow the printer, the material only needs to be strong enough to wind on a core. Tell RK your printer model and label widths so the spindle and core size can be matched.
09 — Why RK
Why Choose RK Label Machines?
RK Label Printing Machinery Pvt. Ltd. has manufactured label printing and converting machinery in Ahmedabad, Gujarat since 1995, runs three manufacturing units and supplies customers in 23+ countries. RK builds rewinding equipment at every scale, from jumbo slitter rewinders to this printer-side unit, so the RK-PR carries the same understanding of web tension and roll quality as the larger machines. Spares and service come from the same factory that builds the label presses and slitters many of its customers already run.
10 — Selection Guide
How to Select the Right Label Rewinder
- Printer type: the RK-PR is made for barcode printer output. For rewinding printed rolls off a flexo press or slitter, look at the RK Auto Rewinder instead.
- Label width and roll size: share your printer model, label width and the roll diameter you want to build.
- Core size: confirm the core your dispensers or applicators use so the rewound roll fits them.
- Run length: the longer your print runs, the more time and waste the rewinder saves.
- Power: a 230 V single phase socket near the printer is all that is required.
11 — Price
Printer Rewinder Price in India
The price of the RK-PR printer rewinder depends on the spindle and core arrangement and any options you require. Prices are quoted ex-works Ahmedabad with GST at 18% applicable. Transport and stay for the RK engineer who installs the machine and trains your operators at your site are borne by the customer. Send RK your printer model, label widths and roll sizes and the team will confirm the unit and quote against it.

13 — FAQ
A printer rewinder is a small automatic label rewinder that sits at the output of a barcode printer and winds the printed labels onto a core as they are printed.
A sensor watches the loop of labels between the printer and the rewinder. The AC gear motor runs when labels build up and stops when the loop is tight.
No. Because the drive is sensor controlled, the rewinder only takes up slack and never drags the web through the printer.
Main power is 230 V AC single phase, the same socket as the printer.
Yes. The roll is wound tightly on a core so it loads directly on the next machine, provided the core size matches.
It is designed for barcode printers in general. Share your printer model with RK to confirm the fit.
The RK-PR follows a barcode printer at printer speed. The Auto Rewinder is a production unit for rewinding label rolls after a press or slitter.
Only to fit the core and tape the web at the start. It then runs unattended for the whole print job.
